We arrived at the Davis Mountains around noon after driving through a beautiful but deserted desert landscape. At the park we found a picnic table at a scenic overlook for lunch. After walking around and taking some pictures for an hour we were back on the road for the Guadalupe Mountains National Park where we would spend our first night.
After a two and a half hour drive we arrived at the Guadalupe Mountains at 5:15pm, but somewhere on our journey west we cross over into MDT, although our phones wouldn't update with the correct time, which caused us to get up and hour earlier than we intended to the next morning. :(
With the extra hour gained we where able to set up camp and eat dinner, and we still had enough time to go on a hike before sunset. After dark we went over to the outside of the visitor center and used the WiFi to upload the first post of this blog.
The hike we went on in the morning took us into a really neat canyon and out on top to a beautiful view of some of West Texas's rugged country. The hike back was uneventful and we spent the rest of the morning taking down camp and repacking the car, which was my job, and it involved unloading everything and repacking it to make everything fit, after lunch we where back on the road headed for Gallup, New Mexico, where we would get a hotel for the night. I'm writing this at the hotel here in NM, its 11:30pm as the train outside blares its horn super loud, and i'm ready to go to sleep.
So goodnight everyone! Be sure to stay tuned for more updates as we continue on our journey west.
